eLearning Formats

With SmarterU LMS, you can upload eLearning content in various popular formats, including xAPI, SCORM 1.2/2004, AICC, and more!
Nearly all course authoring tools support publishing in these formats, allowing you to easily import existing courses or create new ones in your favorite authoring tool. 
AICC

A standard for creating eLearning that is similar to SCORM.‍

While SCORM files are uploaded to an LMS, an AICC file is an empty shell containing instructions on where the actual files are stored. This distinction makes AICC a popular format for course libraries that want to ensure content only resides on their servers. SmarterU can be used to deliver content in an AICC format. 

cmi5

A standard for creating eLearning that combines the best parts of  xAPI (TinCan) and SCORM.

Like xAPI, cmi5 allows for more robust data collection (including offline) and doesn’t require an LMS. At the same time, it provides more structure, like SCORM, which can make it more predictable. SmarterU LMS can be used to deliver content in a cmi5 format. 

SCORM 1.2

SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a standard for creating eLearning that works with most learning management systems (LMSs), including SmarterU.

It has become the industry standard for interoperability. SCORM 1.2 is one iteration of SCORM still used widely today.

SCORM 2004

SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a standard for creating eLearning that works with most learning management systems (LMSs), including SmarterU.

It has become the industry standard for interoperability. SCORM 2004 is the latest iteration of SCORM, an evolution of SCORM 1.2.

xAPI (TinCan)

xAPI (Experience API), sometimes called TinCan, is a powerful standard for creating eLearning that works with most learning management systems (LMSs).

Compared to SCORM, it provides greater data security, allows for more robust data collection (including offline), and allows data collection from various sources. SmarterU can be used to deliver content in an xAPI format.
